Communication Support for Tightly-coupled Distributed Mobile Applications

چکیده
One of the major challenges faced by designers of ad hoc network systems is supporting the deployment of applications that require tightly constrained communication support. Examples of this application class include emergency response systems, military systems and mobile or sensor-based scientific applications. This paper describes QoS-AODV ̧ an integrated End-to-End Delay (EED) bounded route discovery and bandwidth reservation protocol. QoS-AODV is designed to operate within a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) network. Unlike other path finding protocols that ignore the impact of the data link layer, QoS-AODV incorporates slot scheduling information to ensure that bandwidth reserved and EED requirements satisfied as well. To minimize EED, QoSAODV uses an efficient heuristic algorithm for TDMA slot assignment that in addition provides zero delay jitter. QoS-AODV is an enhanced version of the Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing protocol, and is therefore compatible with proposed route discover and maintenance techniques. In order to test the effectiveness of our protocol we implemented a version of QoS-AODV, along with several QoS enable variations, in the ns-2 simulator. Our experiments showed the QoS-AODV significantly improved the probability of being able to find an end-to-end QoS path.

Multi-Tier Communication Abstractions for Distributed Mult-Agent Systems
Most Multi-Agent System (MAS) architectures use a single communication model for sharing of data, propagation of tasking, and negotiation for services. We describe the Cougaar distributed multi-tiered MAS infrastructure which uses different communication techniques at each tier to gain large-scale parallelization, scalability and asynchronous operation without sacrificing the ability to support...

As a result of advances in processor and network speeds, more and more applications can productively be spread across geographically distributed machines. In this paper we present a transparent system for memory sharing, InterWeave, developed with such applications in mind. InterWeave can accommodate hardware coherence and consistency within multiprocessors (level-1 sharing), software distribut...

Now a day’s mobile application is playing a prominent role. With the combination of middleware, these are developing widely. The main contribution is the event based programming model to develop mobile applications due to its inherent support for loose coupling between the components required by mobile application. Existing middleware that supports the event based programming for location aware...
متن کاملDistributed Shared Memory: A Review
In parallel and distributed applications there are two common programming models for interprocess communication: shared memory and message passing. Shared memory has been the standard for tightly-coupled systems (multiprocessors), where the processors have uniform access to a single global memory. Although it is easy to use, memory contention limits the scalability of tightly-coupled systems. O...
متن کاملSystem Support for Mobile Distributed Applications
With the widespread use of distributed systems on one hand and the rapid deployment of mobile computing and communication infrastructure on the other, it becomes important to link both technologies together. This paper first outlines new problems arising from distributed mobile computing and then presents a software support architecture and system for mobile applications. We then discuss a syst...
